International Effectiveness Workshop

Two Day Course

About to be posted overseas? ………. Avoid Culture Shock and learn to adapt quickly

Frequent short overseas working trips? ……… Learn how to anticipate and avoid problems arising from different cultural expectations

Purpose of this course

Over 75% of overseas assignments fail. The most common reason is the difficulty of adapting to a different culture. Even if you speak the language somewhat, are you ready to accommodate the other way of thinking and behaving – without losing your own identity? This workshop enables participants to understand how cultures vary and to identify how to cross the cultural divide. It provides the tools to enable the participants to learn how to adapt. (For those who want specific tips on doing business in an individual specific country, we recommend our Country Briefings Seminars or the Working With … Series). All participants will also receive our Cross Cultural Survival Kit – a tool to identify the key differences when first landing in a new culture.

Who should attend?

This workshop will benefit any manager, company representative, or professional who is about to move to a different country for a medium or long-term assignment. It is also valuable for people whose work takes them to a number of foreign countries for short visits.

You will learn to:

  • Identify the ways in which culture varies
  • Understand your own cultural base
  • Describe the target culture
  • Develop attitudes and behaviours to smooth the landing
  • Understand your own strengths and weaknesses when crossing cultures
