Communication is the glue that holds an organisation together. Without effective communication at all levels the industrial organisation will fail to coordinate resources, will fail to meet changing market requirements, will fail to achieve financial targets, will fail.
Technical people are often said to be poor communicators because they are more interested in technology than people. This is a practical course which enables participants to understand the communications process and recognise the barriers to successfully communicating their ideas and desires. This course will enhance anyone’s ability to really hear the other person, express themselves appropriately and develop high quality rapport.
This course is valuable to anyone whose job involves influencing the actions of others. Managers, team leaders, team members, customer facing staff – anyone who talks and listens will benefit.
This course develops a theoretical and practical understanding of how people communicate, where misunderstanding arises and how to listen effectively. Then we consider how to be really flexible in expressing our ideas so that our listener will hear the correct message. Non-verbal communication takes its rightful place in the course content. We extensively use role play to practise new skills and transfer learning to specific work situations.
